Hand Signals
These signals will not cover every communication need, but they should provide sufficient means for the group to communicate while riding. REMEMBER, road captains are equipped with radios and are in complete charge during a ride.

LEFT TURN
Arm extended and pointing to the left.

STOP or SLOW DOWN
Arm extended straight down with palm back (if hazard exists in road, point to hazard).

RIGHT TURN
Upper arm extended horizontally, forearm straight up with palm forward.

FOLLOW ME
Arm extended straight up from shoulder with palm forward.

SPEED UP
Arm down to side, fist clenched with twisting motion as if turning throttle.

HAZARD IN ROAD
Point immediately with emphasis (can also be done with right hand).

SINGLE FILE
Arm extended straight up with hand extended in a chopping position.
DOUBLE FILE
Arm extended straight up with "rams horn" sign.

COMFORT STOP
Upper arm extended horizontally, forearm straight up, fist clenched with short up and down motion.

PULL OFF
Arm positioned as for right turn, forearm swung toward shoulder.

FUEL
Arm to outside, forearm pointing to tank.

TURN SIGNALS ARE ON
Arm extended with fingers and thumb opening and closing (think chicken dance).
